Nothing Much Else Happened: April 8, 1978

★ Highlight Day

Today was opening day for the Little League that I'm in. I have already gotten my uniform, and my number is 8. We went to the annual pancake breakfast. Then, our team hung around the park until 1:00, when we were scheduled to play. We played the Indians, who are supposed to be one of the top contenders for the championships. Everything went fine through 4½ innings of play. Then we brought in a new pitcher and they got 11 runs to beat us 12-2. (I don't like to talk about it, but we brought in me as the last pitcher. Don't tell anyone—okay? P.S. Dodgers won, 6-2.
